Adult and Senior Ministry Groups at St. Paul
St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carlisle offers a wide variety of groups, ministries, programs, and classes for people of all ages. Check out some of the adult and senior events below:
Handbell Choir
The Handbell Choir will resume rehearsals on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the choir room (204) beginning in October. The group practices from October to December and plays at all three services the 4th Sunday of Advent, then resumes in February and plays again in Lent and shortly after Easter.
Senior Choir
The Senior Choir rehearses on Wednesday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (September – Trinity Sunday), unless announced differently in the Messenger and Epistle, and leads worship at the 8:00 a.m. worship service as well as the 11 p.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. If you can’t make the evening rehearsal, come a bit earlier on Sunday morning (7:15 a.m.) for an alternate one. You don’t have to be able to read music to join.
Spiritual Support Group for Persons with Disabilities
This special needs ministry group meets at 4:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of Forest Park Nursing Home. Refreshments will be served. The meetings are usually the third Sunday of the month. Contact Holly Hoffman, St. Paul’s Diaconal Minister, for more information.
Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Ministry meets the third Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the church conference room. They share devotions and names of those who need to be lifted up in prayer and have a prayer chain for emergencies.
Quilting Ministry: Tied in Faith, Sent in Hope, Wrapped in Love
The Quilting Ministry meets from October through April every Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until noon in Stock Hall, this group provides quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer Shawl Ministry members knit or crochet shawls while saying special prayers for the future recipients. The shawls are then blessed by the pastors and shared with those in our congregation and community who might need a tangible sign of God’s unlimited love. We also create baby and wedding shawls as well as caps for cancer patients.
St. Paul Dinner Groups
Want to meet a few new people or spend some time with old friends. Then this is your opportunity – we would love to have you join us. Each family hosts one time per year providing the entree. Others bring the remaining dishes. We are made up of 6 to 8 people and meet on a schedule provided by the group itself. No requirement the meal be elaborate – simple luncheon or BBG or get together at a restaurant. This is about making new friends and building relationships and an easy way to get to know other St Paul people. If interested contact Pat Tack or Emily Thomas by phone or e-mail or leave a note in our mailboxes.
Gamers
No, this may not be what you think. Made up mostly of the “Peanut Butter Egg Gang,” this group gets together at 1:00 p.m. in the Welcome Center the last Tuesday of each month. It is a time of games (card and board games) and fellowship and fun! Come join in!
