Adult and Senior Ministry Groups at St. Paul

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carlisle offers a wide variety of groups, ministries, programs, and classes for people of all ages. Check out some of the adult and senior events below:

Senior Choir

The Sr. Choir is open to anyone High School age or older that enjoys singing and would like to help lead the congregation in worship. The group sings weekly at the 8:00 AM service between Labor Day and Pentecost. Weekly anthems are selected to either paraphrase the appointed lessons or to reinforce and support the theme for the day. We rehearse Wednesday evenings from 7:00 until 8:15 PM except during Lent when rehearsals move to Thursdays. For more information, please contact Jim McPherson (717-961-6595 or email).

Praise Band

Praise Band is open to anyone High School age or older that enjoys singing or playing instruments or even both. The environment is relaxed and supportive and the group needs an hour practice before worship at 9:30 am every Sunday morning throughout the year. If this fits your schedule, contact, Jungwha Kim Email or call

Prayer Ministry

This is a group of St. Paul disciples who meet the 3 rd Tuesday of every other month to offer their prayers and to review the names of those they are holding in their prayers daily. This list consists of the concerns brought forth by members of our congregation. This can be accomplished by calling the church office or a member of the group. If you would like to become a member of this loving and caring group, or have any questions concerning the group, you can call Miriam Kelly or call Pat Boyne

Quilting Ministry

Every Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., 10-12 willing workers gather to make tied mission quilts for Lutheran World Relief.  Our quilting group has been making tied quilts for over 30 years, and we would love for anyone interested to join us. Newly named St Paul Piecemakers, we have sent over 5,000 quilts all over the world to show our love for our neighbors. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, simple tents or floor coverings. If you have questions, please call either Pat Auckerman (717-602-4323) or Anna McPherson (717-440-2065).

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawl Ministry members knit or crochet shawls while saying special prayers for the future recipients. The shawls are then blessed by the pastors and shared with those in our congregation and community who might need a tangible sign of God’s unlimited love. We also create baby and wedding shawls as well as caps for cancer patients.

The Witness & Outreach Ministry

The Witness & Outreach Ministry provides opportunities for St Paul members to get involved in the community and serve. Wednesday evening meals is our biggest ministry where we serve a meal each Wednesday in Stock Hall. The meal is open to anyone in the community. A number of individuals from Community CARES, the local homeless shelter, and individuals who are food insecure attend. Some individuals attend just for the fellowship over a good meal. We are serving 75 – 90 meals each week and the numbers continue to grow.

We meet the 2nd Thursday of the month at 5:00pm, in Luther’s parlor. Anyone is welcome to join.
